    Kia Sportage 2012

The car recently developed a squeak.

Sounds like flock of birds when you shake the frame up and down.

I visited local quick fit and they put it up on the lift and started to take a look.

Guy reckoned it was the wheel bearing.

Called me over and holding like a crowbar he was poking around.

Myself I thought the sounds were coming from the shock absorber. But it's difficult to know fit sure.

My main question though is as he was poking about with the metal bar I noticed he has damaged the coating of plastic around the coil spring.

I'm wondering if this is bad?

The spring will start to rust now?

    And the NCT is due

Will the squeak cause a fail?

Will they notice the damaged spring plastic?

Is it bad form for mechanic to damage the spring?
