Driving for 7 years, advice for test?

    Hi all

I passed my theory test yesterday and would have my learners in a months time.

I've been driving for 7 years back home but my license doesn't fall under the exchange program here in Ireland :( so I have to go through the entire process (albeit 6 EDT lessons)

I'm wondering who would be the best driving school to work with in Waterford and do I need a car of my own for the driving test or can one be arranged for me say through the ADI to take the test with

    Thanks for your help!

    I don’t know about general
schools in W but prior to the covid it was fairly standard practice to be able to hire a car from a driving school for the test. They typically prioritised people who had done classes with them and often strung you along with having to buy a pre-test (ie v expensive) extra class as
    part of the sting. It
mihht be worth your while getting in contact with the RSA (website?) as
they now have registered and approved car teaching tutors and it might be easier to get a list and just ring them up and check what they offer & charge. If you go with too small an outfit their cars might be in use for training the day of your test
so you might be left high and dry.

Are they doing driving tests at the moment with the covid? Not much point in paying for classes if there is no end goal?

Thanks JustAThought that helps clear things up. I'm a doctor here in W and was told that essential workers are being prioritised for the test so I think they're still going ahead with reduced test dates
