I've recently started renting a property and signed up for 500mb with vodafone the problem arises when the engineer came to install. There are 32 houses built on the landowners (He doesn't own the houses) property though he is refusing to allow the engineer to run the cable from cabinet to the house and instead wants us to pay him to use his broadband as the line runs by his property which is closest to the cabinet. Is he legally allowed to prevent installation? as he is preventing a service been provided.

Is he a licensed broadband provider? If he is just chancing his arm maybe a mention of getting Comreg involved might get him to back off.

There is legal implications to what he is doing subselling. But also for his own sake if you or someone in your home started looking up stuff it will be all tied to his account. And visa versa if he it could be attributed to you.

Id inform him of the problems, you should have your own line and its in his interests to ensure that.

Only half solves it. He stops offering his. Still blocks yours.

Theres no right/obligation to allow it.
