Android ''tv'' box resetting itself

A friend of mine keeps losing all his apps and it's like the box has been factory reset but he says all he does is use tivimate but this is the 3rd time now the box has reset on him. I've never heard of this and the first time I was suspicious but now I believe him because it has happened another friend too where the newly added installed apps are completely gone , eg tivimate , IPTV smarters and more Which I won't mentioned publicly.

The only apps that remain when he turns it on is the standard pre installed apps.

How could this be happening without someone manually removing the individual apps or factory resetting boxes ?

Could it be a fault in not shutting them off correctly etc ?

Any ideas ? My head is wrecked from calling out to him to keep reinstalling the apps and now it's happened someone else with a different model box

    It's a H96Max android 4gb box

    H96 MAX RK3318

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have 3 H96max boxes, two of which are at my sisters place. I've reloaded the programming and a few days later she calls me back and says it is all gone. Same thing has happened to a box I have at home. They all reset to the out of box/factory condition, the two or three apps I've installed just disappear.

Unfortunately not. I'm surprised there isn't anything or more info online about it. It must be a fault with these models.

Thanks for the quick responses Dunfyy and wally1990. I did check the freaktab forums for a bit but didn't find a solution there either. If I do find a solution I'll post here. Until then I guess I'll just keep reprogramming it.

Buy a few mi tv boxes or even the mi tv sticks and you won't regret it. I'd never buy a box that doesn't run official android tv/Google tv os again.

The problem still exists. The h96 max boxes just randomly reset themselves, requiring them to be reprogrammed with apps. Haven't found the reason or a solution yet.

As Dopetech said, buy a mi box or firestick. Just a better more reliable box.

Just an update that might help someone else having this problem....
About a month ago I got frustrated with these boxes. One has been stable, it was purchased at a different time from a different supplier. The other two were purchased together and after adding apps, they would reset to factory setup after a day or two, sometimes less. I went and fetched the firmware for the boxes at h96tvbox.com and installed on the two boxes. Reloaded my apps and they have been stable since. No problems.

I think the original firmware on these boxes had some type of virus in it causing the boxes to reset to factory settings.
DopeTech and Fish_Fingers: Thanks for your input. I find the h96max+ boxes work well. I've set up a dozen or so for friends and family and with exception of these two they all worked fine out of the box. I don't see any use in buying anything more expensive as they just become obsolete within a year or two anyway. Hardware improves fast, and Android OS is in a constant state of upgrades. After about 2 years everything is out of date.
