Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone seen any plans or ready made units for supplying 12V in a power cut and will automatically cut in and provide power from a 12V battery?

Strange reason I want this but I get my internet (via Wifi) from a neighbor who is on a totally different mains supply so when we loose power they normally still have power. Our supply is much more subject to outages.

So far my ideas are to use a APC UPC and just tap straight off the battery , assume that will work without the battery charging electrics interfering or to get a custom built unit. As I'd need at least two I was looking around in case there are some published circuit diagrams and plans to make something cheaper?

I'd post links but as a new user I can't. youtube has one idea I might use search for Ultimate Battery Backup Hack/Mod and there is an interesting video How to Make Full Automatic 12V UPS for Internet/Wi-Fi Router (V1.0).

Amazon have a couple of suitable devices but they don't have the run time I was looking for.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Thanks, seen the youtube one but for some reason was thinking more about using a 12V gel battery for backup power. I'll research the other link can't find anyone selling the HW-Groupd stuff.

But think I've finally found what I'm looking for

    banggood.com/YX850-Power-Failure-Automatic-Switching-Standby-Battery-Lithium-Battery-Module-5V-48V-Emergency-Converter-p-1594242.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN

which seems to do most of what I want and I found some projects where its working with a decent sized gel battery.

Wake me up when it's all over.
