Fibre wire damaged/low signal in cabinet?

Have finally had Fibre go live in our estate.

Ordered with Eir - they messed up the order originally due to ARD key error or something and double-ordered but long story short engineer arrived to the house this week to install.

He ran the cable to house no problem (FTTH) but then the cable assigned to my house in the cabinet apparently was 'low signal' or no light to distribution point. The cabinet is directly outside my house so he brought me out and showed me 12 ports. My port is the only one with 'low signal' and the other 11 are fine. When he attached my house connection to others the fibre was active in the house and router etc.

He said he couldn't use another one because they're all pre-allocated to houses in the estate (despite us being the only cable in the cabinet at the time). He said they'd send an engineer out to fix the cable and it should be up and running this week.

Had heard nothing by yesterday so rang Eir and someone from some department said that they might be able to re-allocate one of the other 11 working ports.

Have just received a text/email (despite promise of phonecall) from Eir saying installation will now be in December!?!

Has anyone else come across this? How is it one cable can not working and the other 11 in cabinet work, and/or is it possible to get the port re-assigned?

Meanwhile other neighbours in the estate are all up-and-running now using both the same cabinet and others nearby.

    Raging here!

I had a similar issue during the first attempted install - the fibre at the cab end either wasn't plugged in yet OR the cab itself wasn't fully provisioned/configured yet so there was no light on my houses assigned port in the DP. I think it only took a few weeks to resolve as my order was one of the first on the cab and they attempted the install prematurely.
Believe the ports are assigned per house, wouldn't think they'd reassign unless they prove the port you are assigned is indeed a broken fibre on the path from the cab to the DP.
What will most likely happen between your new Dec date is that port/cab will be checked to ensure any issues are resolved.
