Otosclerosis & Stapedectomy

    Hi all,
I suffer from otosclerosis in my right ear & completely deaf in left due to mumps as a child. I currently wear a hearing aid in my right ear which gives me a good degree of hearing in that ear. When I was first diagnosed with otosclerosis the option of surgery was ruled out due to risk of it going wrong and the possibility of being left with no hearing. This was 15 years ago and I’ve noticed that my hearing is getting gradually worse as can happen with otosclerosis. I would like to get a 2nd opinion on the surgery option so would like to hear from anyone who had a stapedectomy operation and if they were happy/unhappy with the outcome or can recommend a surgeon who does stapedectomy routinely with good success.
