VRT, Applus customer service.

I had an appointment to give Revenue over €7000 today at Green hills VRT centre. I do not have a valid complaint as I was not in compliance with their rules. My appointment was at 12.30pm, having taken an unpaid day off work I gave myself adequate time to get there. There was however a breakdown on the M50 which brought traffic to a standstill and I was ten minutes late. I was told in an offhand manner by an individual with a clipboard that "They're gone to lunch" I begged him to see if there was anything he could do, he went inside briefly, came out and "no, you'll have to make another appointment" I asked him if I could wait to see if anything became available and he told me "it doesn't work like that".

In these difficult and tragic times we are encouraged to display kindness and consideration and are advised that we are all in this together. Applus appears to be exempted from these considerations. Having registered three previous vehicles I know that this is a very short and easy process. I could easily have been fitted in if there was a will to do so. But of course there is a charge for a missed appointment. Applus is the subject of much criticism and having experienced their offhand treatment first hand I now know that it is justified. In my experience when some people are given a little power over others they like to use it before reverting to their ordinary home lives.

I hope if their employees need some kindness and consideration some day they will meet more compassionate people than I met at Greenhills today. I forwarded this email to their customer service dept. and I'm sure it will give them a laugh. I will add that in their favour the lady who re-booked my appointment waived my penalty after much pleading, I hope this does not get her into trouble.

I'm tempted to launch into a tirade of abuse but I think I'll leave the abuse of people to Applus who appear to encourage a truly horrible culture.

I don’t see what grounds you have to abuse anyone.

To be fair by turning away late appointments it keeps the rest of the system running smoothly.

You can’t expect them to come back from their lunch and continue working just for you

I think you'd fall into the "Difficult Fcuker To Deal With" category.

Is there a name for the male version of Karen?

What an absolute dose of an email to be sending.

You missed an appointment and they made anew one for you and waived the charge ... get the guns out.

Ken apparently or just Karen's husband.
