Windows 10 S upgrade

Hi,

I need basic laptop and have one picked out however instead of windows 10 home it has windows s.
I remember from my old Surface, this means you are restricted to downloading from the windows store only.
Reading some old articles online, S can be upgraded to Home is seconds..it's basically a setting. Anyone know if this is still the case? I dont want to buy a laptop that means im stuck with S.

I had to switch mine from S to 10, is very easy (pretty sure once you do it yiu can't go back to S but that's ok).

I dont get why on the Currys site some laptops come with Win10 S and others come with Win10 Home..if 10s is just a setting you cant swith out of , what's the difference, or why so some lapstops specifically come with the S vs. Home edition? Is there any drawback to S given you can easily switch to Home if you want? Thanks

S mode is supposed to be safer as you can of download apps from the Microsoft store whereas 10 let's you download from anywhere.

Had to buy a cheap laptop for work in March, the amount of snobbery about you need this and you need that was silly. I'm connected to the work server and saving everything there so a €250 one from Argos did the trick.

Idiots spending €700 as a family member 'who works in IT) - we had a much smaller allowance we could claim back.

Anyway, the point of my rant is dont pay for specs you dont need. Also means if you want to replace in 2-3-4 years you havnt spent that much.
