Argh - petrol spill in the boot!

So, I filled a petrol canister two days ago, put it in the boot of my car and drove home. The same canister I've used for over a year now and it's a proper approved canister. I didn't take the canister out straight away and when I did take it out an hour later, I immediately noticed a smell of petrol in the boot and the canister had lost about half a litre of petrol :(:(

So, I mopped up as best I could using white vinegar and baking soda. Then carpet shampoo, then fabreeze. I took out the boot carpet and noticed that the petrol had leaked underneath.

I now still have the petrol smell, even without the boot carpet in the car AND the smell is in the cabin.

Any ideas on anything I can do to remove the smell (other than lighting a match and throwing it into the boot!!) ? Will it go away eventually? Is there anything I can do to speed it up?
