I had eir ftth 150mbs installed yesterday, 40pm bill with an extra mobileworld landline bundle. The speed is sometimes 142mbs but typically its around 80mbs. I am happy with that thats all i need we are not a heavy traffic household

Whats annoying me is netflix twice paused itself over a 4 hour period due to no internet connection but then fixed itself within seconds
I have been streaming netflix for years with no such issues on much slower connections. The intetent must go to nil for a few minutes at a time.

Any ideas for a quick fix?

Homeplugs are not always reliable. They can drop connections if there is noise on the power cabling in your house. At a minimum, you need to ensure no power extension cables in use, no other plugs in the same socket or the other socket in a dual. Try to run an Ethernet cable to your Sky box, to see if you still get drops when wired.

Longer term, you should try to eliminate the homeplugs. Go for a mesh WiFi system, preferably wired to each access point with Cat6, but if you can't run cables, go for wireless backhaul on your mesh system, and install enough nodes so that they have good coverage from one to the next in the chain. Place the first node next to your Eir modem, and switch off the WiFi in the Eir modem, so the whole house works on the Mesh channels. Try to have a node near enough to your Sky box so that it works on 5GHz WiFi.
