My brother is really unhappy with his music result. He thought the worst he could do was 50% because the practical was cancelled. Is this not the case?

No, not the case. The confusion probably arose because originally Joe McHugh (then Minister for Ed) had awarded full marks to everyone for practical elements of some subjects such as oral exams in languages. That was based on the LC being postponed to mid summer. When it was then cancelled this arrangement no longer stood.

Are teachers taking the practical part of the exam into the predicted grade?

Yes they were instructed to do so.

The 100% award for the practical was based on the Leaving Cert being run in August ,which didn't happen.
