Have 152 civic tourer petrol auto with 165000 km,circumstances have changed wasn't expecting to do mileage when I bought it but had just changed job,now I no longer do huge miles Dublin cork twice a week at most and local maybe 30k a day,was thinking of trading in for a phev ,while there's some residual left in car my reckoning is if I hold onto it for another year or two gonna be close to 200k on it ,which I thought would now make it not worth much at moment got a rough trade in value of 13.5 k off a 34k car,or if I wait till early next year prob about 175000k on it but I would get a 2021 car hopefully near same trade in value then, really just wondering at what stage does it ,in dealers eyes not worth much ,btw has full dealer service history.

If you do Dublin Cork twice a week and 30kms a day tipping around you are doing 1000kms a week if you hold on to it for 2 years you're going to have 265,000kms on it not close to 200,000. At which stage you will struggle to move it.

Trade in value sounds good to me at 13.5k. Not sure I'd bother with a PHEV on your mileage though and regular long spins but that's up to you. Suppose you could make do with it when you are doing short daily stuff

Hi ,should have clarified poss twice a week cork some weeks only once ,but nevertheless as you say keeping it for even another year will put it over 200k which even then I would assume would be difficult to get much for it on a trade in,think I will just move it on while there's some equity in it .

What are you looking to buy?

Gotta say love the civic estate but they don't make them anymore and no sign of a new one ,sticking with Honda would be petrol civic hatchback ,keeping with an estate ,only ones I like are the focus active auto and new seat Leon fr but the sensible side of me is thinking phev ,only ones that I have researched are the kia Niro and xceed that seem ok ,have really only started looking ,honestly not sure if petrol ,mhev or phev ,still figuring out which suits my needs .

Ireland has always been renowned as being governed by nepotism and "the land of jobs for the boys" but I never felt any of that. My parents didn't have the right connections. I also envisage that whatever my parents leave in their will, there'll be one particular person who will definitely engage at least me, but possibly all the other beneficiaries in legal action and create a huge mire of sh!t, thus making what's set to be the worst tragedy of my life even more traumatic. Hopefully it's decades away.
