Looking at a new car for the misses, need some advice on the following cars, car must be petrol or hybrid and automatic, also must be hatchback. Priority is comfort and reliability, don't car about performance but would like a little luxury feel. will be mainly for city driving and parking so small to medium size. Any thoughts on following models. Budget 15k , nothing older than 2013/14

    1 Bmw 1 series
    2.Lexus ct200h
    3.Vw golf
    4. Mini countryman
    5. Hyundai i20
    6. Honda jazz

    Thanks

Out of those is a luxury feel is even remotely desired, I'd focus on either the BMW and Lexus. The others while practical would certainly be a downgrade. Consider smaller wheels for better comfort especially in City driving.

Don't get a mini for comfort anyway. Not a comfortable car. Or if you're not an early 20s girl.
Quite cool car but more of a fashion statement.
They're all well within budget for your desires anyway, you'd get a 5 series in 13/14 for that budget so you should be able to come up a right few years in any of them, even the BMW and lexus which will be the dearest of your choices.
The likes of the i20 you could get something nearly new to be honest. Although it's not a competitor at all of some of the others in your list, it's smaller.
Not particularly a fan of them but vw golf is popular around the world for a reason. Might seem expensive when going to buy but rock solid residuals on them that few cars can match.

Thanks for that yep the i20 isn't in the same league but obviously I could let a fairly fresh one. The 5 series won't suit as she needs a hatchback but that would leave the golf, bmw 1 series or Lexus as options. The golfs are a little boring to me but I agree they are rock solid not as nice as the Lexus or bmw though, it's a tough choice ðŸ‘

I wasn't recommending 5 series at all just showing you could come well up the years that you mentioned for your budget, more a comparison that you could get a 13/14 5 series for the budget so a much more recent 1 series could be got.
Going by your reply I think you've a shorter list than you opened with in reality.
I'll throw another option in for you, the Audi A3.
Think it's a very good little hatchback and while it shares a lot with the golf, it will be a little bit classier. But also dearer

I'd have a look at the Mercedes A class, it's not as common and looks wise I think it edges the BMW and Lexus. Interior is not amazing but much better than Hyundai or the Golf. Definitely go for the AMG body styling.

Oh and also would an 3 door Range rover Evoque work? It's technically a hatchback just a bit higher and is definitely a luxury feeling cabin. Might be just outside budget!

I've always liked the CT200H, for it's quirkiness and it's a very peaceful drive!

Most will be UK imports and in the right spec they look great.
I particulary like them in white, but are difficult to find.

The Lexus is lovely, but the boot space is dismal.

Yes I love the look of the Lexus but need a bit of boot space so I'll have to test drive one . The Mercedes a class is nice also I'll check them out, I know the misses doesn't like the a3 so I've ruled that out

I’d have a specced up Golf over any of the others on the list.

    YAWN!!

Also difficult to get a Gold in petrol and Automatic, then in high spec with lowish mileage with a 15k budget.

With 0% finance deals on the higher spec VWs, they sold quite a lot of them.
1 in 5 new Golfs sold last year were automatic.
Of petrol Golfs it was 1 in 4.

Obv that’s a growing number and 5/6 years ago it was probably more grim.
I’d still say there are a good few out there.

Any links to these high spec, low miles, petrol automatic Golfs?
