I've just bought a Moto g 5g plus and changed my mobile plan to one that has 5g. I also live in a 5g area but still an only getting 4g+ on the phone.
When I go into mobile settings, I'm only offered 2, 3 and 4g as preferred network setting options!
    Any ideas?

Do you have a 5G enabled plan? You will need to be on a 5G plan to access it.

Moto has bad anthenna even 4 4g
Find your 5g tower and see how close you need to be just because the advertise 5g they might not have it call the provider and ask what phone settings

From a thread elsewhere, not guaranteeing it works though:

Guide: 5G on three UK for moto G 5G plus
Go to phone and call *#*#4636#*#*

Click phone info and set "Set preferred network type" to "NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA".

Obviously no warranty provided and you do this at your own risk but for me that enabled 5G on three UK.
