    https://www.rte.ie/entertainment/2020/0902/1162732-sinead-oconnor-explains-why-shes-entering-healthcare/
Sinead O'Connor has spoken to Ryan Tubridy about her decision to become a healthcare worker.

The Dublin singer is going to train to become a healthcare assistant and spoke to The Ryan Tubridy Show this (Wednesday) morning on RTÉ Radio 1, revealing that the death of a close friend inspired her to move into the area of palliative care.

"That's something that I wanted to do for years, it's not because of the Covid thing, it's not that I'm rushing to the frontline," she said.

What next for this woman? Climb Everest? Open a smoothie shop?

She hops on and off things very fast.

I thought that I was going to find out that she was unwell.
Rock on Sinead - Nothing compares to you!

    Sounds cool to me.

    Usual Boards haters.

Yes, good for her, but the need to come on air and announce every decision she makes in life via Tubs or the LLS etc, worries me.

Oh ffs with the clickbait title.

She needs healthcare, not be providing healthcare. Nobody with profound mental health issues should be working in healthcare.

This. This is most likely her latest publicity stunt because she desperately needs attention. This will go over about as well as her conversion to Islam.

And even if she was serious no way could she pass a psychological evaluation. Or survive any of work involved.

I thought that I was going to read that she had end stage cancer or something. God.

That’s not how you spell “ psychiatric “.

I have a hunch the thread title was deliberately phrased to draw people in.

    OP change the title.
    Everyone else leave Sinead alone.

Yes, it reminds me of the headline "IKE 'BEATS' TINA TO DEATH!

    Fascinating.

What time do we start clapping for her and call her a "front line hero"?
Does she know where she can get the free coffee?

Ah Sinead, was a very close friend in my late teens, it's over 35 years since I saw her last, she's had a roller coaster of a life and clearly one of Irelands greatest. Wasn't entirely comfortable with the finding various religions episodes and not at all sure what this latest development is all about, just hope she continues to focus on her music & quality of life.

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

Fair does to her. Don't mind the normal haters.

Would you really wanted to be treated [or your family members] by her? Given her attention seeking antics over the years many people would run out the door if they saw her.

I love Sinead.. she does swear a lot though..

I’m sure anyone laying in a hospital bed would just be delighted to see someone with views like this looking after their health
"I'm terribly sorry," her tweet said. "What I'm about to say is something so racist I never thought my soul could ever feel it. But truly I never wanna spend time with white people again (if that's what non-muslims are called). Not for one moment, for any reason. They are disgusting."

She might as well announce that shes training to be an astronaut for all the chance of her winding up in another profession

Plus she's been a space cadet for years

A nut job ready to jump on the latest bandwagon.

One of the greatest artists to ever come out of Ireland..

That’s highly debatable to be honest, wouldn’t rate her at all in that category. She’s more famous for the bat**** things she’s done outside of music than anything artistically.

Well, now she is.. but in 1990 she was a pioneer..

One of the greatest artists to ever come out of Ireland..

She had the potential to be when she was younger, but she never came close to fulfilling that potential. She always has been a lost soul, with too many other creations and distractions in her life, particularly the religious paths she has taken which have been bizarre and maybe even naive.

Even then she's only remembered for tearing up a picture of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live. The only song of note from her during that time was Nothing Compares 2 U.

It’s not even that good a song lets be honest, there is nothing exceptional about the lyrical content, the melody or the vocal delivery - but it’s always heralded as some masterpiece. I never understood the appeal of it

Not a fan of her latter years, but fair play if she carries through with this. FYI having mental health issues doesn't preclude someone from working in health.

There's limits though and having numerous full on breakdowns that required in-patient care does not suggest a career caring for dying people.

Mostly because it was written by Prince. Its not a bad song, but if he hadn't have committed career suicide she probably would have released more and better songs that would have made Nothing Compares forgettable.

    Mandinka was good in fairness.

Not much of note since then, bar a cover of a Prince Rogers Nelson song.

    Now Prince, there's a talent.

So she's back to being Sinead? Or is that only when she wants to be recognised for something?

Her main talent is in her voice rather than songwriting. Most of her best work has been covering others songs.

It's hardly news. She mentioned it on her Twitter feed quite a while ago.
