Hi all, finally going to bite the bullet and trade in the wife’s 07 Focus (had from new) for about a 181 Fiesta valued at €16,500. Should I expect any more or less than about €1500 trade in on the Focus? I know it’s an 07 but decent car, high spec Zetec, only just done €100k km. Thanks!

If you get 1500 I'd bite their hand off. Would have thought 1000 more likely.
Nice cars but just too old and they will probably just stick it in an auction.
Try to sell it privately would be a better bet.

Sell privately and try get a nice discount on the Fiesta.

Shop around. Buying straight makes this very straightforward

They’ll be taking your car in for near free as it’s worth nothing to them. Should probably still get €1000 for it privately.

I saw an 08 one sold privately last week for €400. Running well NCT out in a few weeks.

    Dealer offered €200 trade in.

Check out the Fiesta in NI. They are better spec and with the VRT will still make it much cheaper than the price you are quoting, even with a trade in on the Focus.

    Example:
    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202008262939383?exclude-writeoff-categories=on&fuel-type=Petrol&radius=1501&body-type=Hatchback&co2-emissions-cars=TO_100&make=FORD&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&advertising-location=at_cars&transmission=Manual&sort=relevance&model=FIESTA&include-delivery-option=on&ni-only=on&postcode=bt11aa&page=1

£11,000 before haggle, and less than 100g CO2, so low VRT - should come in about €2k , giving a cost of about €14,000 to €15,000. You will have a Ford warranty with it as well.

Spot on, one place offered €1000, another €750. Thanks for the help. Now I’m thinking the Fiesta whilst happy enough with it, it does seem overpriced, I’d never have considered a Micra in the past but have caught my eye recently and seen a good bit cheaper than the Fiesta. Any opinions would be appreciated!

If they are offering you 750 or 1000 then you can be certain they are actually giving you probably €500 in reality. All they are doing is taking some of the discount on the Fiesta and bumping up the trade in value of your Focus to make it look better. You should focus (no pun) on the cost to change figure, it's the only figure that matters.
