Cork City Council Freehold Title Issue

My husband and I have recently had an offer accepted for a house in the city.

We paid a booking deposit to the estate agent and got the survey done etc, everything seemed fine until our solicitor rang us to say there is a problem with the title of the house.

Basically the previous owner is deceased and the house is now being sold by the remaining family however the owner let the title lapse and the family must get the Council’s consent to the transfer as they own the freehold. Their solicitor confirmed he wrote to them in March 2020 and as of July 2020 has received ‘no satisfactory reply yet’.

Do you know who we need to speak to in the Council to get the transfer of the freehold title moving? Until this is done we can't legally buy the house.

Best way is to go up to them next to the City Hall near the Fire Station.
If there is any outstanding money owed for that 'Trickle Hogan Household Charge' they will stick you for it.
