I remember it when it was first put up (1984) because we could see the light from our house.
Does anyone know for how many years it worked and was it just at Christmas time it was lit?
Was it car batteries or similar on a timer that powered it?

I was up there recently for the first time in 30 years and it's now a rusty eyesore.

Be better if the removed it from the mountain, there's a weird obsession with crosses mountains in the country. People can't seem to just enjoy the natural beauty

Tis a part of our history though, and should preserve it, it can sometimes give people hope also
