Self build - Block built vs Timber framed

Considering building our own house, we have a site should we need it so dont need to worry about buying one.

I would assume TF would be cheaper, would be thinking timber framed with masonry facade. What kind of difference in price would we be looking at?

Are there any major advantages / disadvantages to one over the other?

    TF is not necessarily cheaper

the main advantage of TF is speed of construction

Cheers. In relation to construction, are specific builders required ie a specialist TF builder or would any good builder be competent?

Normally with TF, your have the contractor as normal, but he will bring in a TF crowd to erect the frame as the company supplying and installing the TF needs to be registered on the NSAI list for operation in Ireland.
