RWD Transit rear ABS fault

I have a 12 reg jumbo rwd with the abs and esp lights on on the dash. (related I imagine)
I've only bought the van so not sure how long the fault is present.
I've use FORScan to read the faults and there's the following:
Code: C1A92 - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor

    Additional Fault Symptom:
     - Circuit Short To Ground Or Open

Code: C1A93 - Right rear wheel speed sensor

    Additional Fault Symptom:
     - Circuit Short To Ground Or Open

    Code: U0401 - Invalid Data Received from ECM/PCM A

    Additional Fault Symptom:
     - Signal Invalid

I'm thinking that the last fault is related to the earlier two. I have to replace a broken spring in the van next weekend so I'm hoping to do this at the same time.
It seems odd that the two sensors would be faulty at the same time, though I've not had chance to check them yet.
I've checked one of the connectors to the sensor coming from the van with the ignition on and I couldn't get 12V. Should I be able to read 12V from the van here?
I will check the sensors with a multi meter, but what should I be looking for, AC voltage? Impedance change.

The loom coming from the front of the van has the wires exposed (ie, shrouds visible, not the wire itself) around the diesel tank area, and it disappears up into the van at that point. I suspect that these wires could be the culprit. Where can I find the other end of this loom so I can check these wires for breaks?

If you don't know how long the codes have been showing then I suggest to clear them and wait for them to be triggered again.

However, if you do see things that should be fixed (exposed wires etc) then you may as well fix them pronto.

Nothing obviously exposed or broken. Codes are cleared and re-appear immediately, so most likely a break.
