I'm just beginning to look into log cabins for setting up a home theater
what type would be best? it would only be for this purpose as well not a live in one for 24/7

I have all the equipment(projecter, screen, speakers, receiver etc) but its getting so cramped in the living room these days.

any help or advice would be so appreciated

Anyone without windows. Have you checked the price of them? They aren't cheap.

They get cold in winter you need to insulate them

If you have close neighbours then consider block built and/or specify the build in such a way as to suppress noise.

You say 'log cabin' but are you using that term to mean an actual cabin built with round logs, or any wooden building? A well constructed shed with a double layer base for insulation, heavier frame timbers than the cheapest ones and insulation in the walls and roof would be perfectly satisfactory and might suit your purpose better. Put in double glazed door and a couple of windows with blackout curtain/blinds. Don't omit the windows you need ventilation especially in summer. An electric heater would keep it warm enough even in winter, I worked all through several winters in a similar set up - my computers maintained the heat even when the heater was off, which was most of the time after the first hour or so. I suspect a normal layer of timber cladding plus insulation and slabbing/timber lining would be more effective than solid logs.
