    Hi

I’m looking to insulate my apartment. It’s a duplex in a three floor building with one apartment underneath. In addition to attic insulation, I’d like to get cavity wall rather than dry lining. Is this possible without affecting the apartment below me?

    Thanks!

You need to check with the mngt company and look at the lease to see what you can do.

    Its not a slam dunk

When I explain apartment ownership, I describe it as you own the air in the apt, and nothing else is yours to meddle with without approval.

Thank for replying. The management company have agreed they are ok with me doing it. I just wanted to check if it is conceptually possible (I.e. can they pump the beads into the upper two levels of the building only?) I know with terraces houses they can put some sort of barrier between the houses. Just wasn’t sure if the same sort of thing can be applied to separate floors

From experience, I would suggest that before spending on wall insulation, have an air tightness test done on the apartment first.
