WiFi switches with no internet.

    I was wondering if I can set up WiFi switches through a router without internet so I could switch some lights from my phone.

    I could hotspot from my phone for the setup but they would need to work without internet afterwards.

    Sonoffs can do this, there is a local "LAN mode" when internet is not available - you can control through the EWELink app on the same network

    Shelly devices will work for this, and can work as their own access point without the need for a router.

    Won't need connection to internet to setup either unlike the sonoff's.

    I think the sonoff may require periodic connection to the internet too.

    Wonder can you point me towards instructions to set it up without wifi, it was easily installed, but for the life of me I cannot see how to do the setup without wifi..

    you've 2 options

    Through the App

    1. If using the app, I think you need internet on your phone at least initially (doesn't have to be at farm) to setup an account.
    2. connect to AP shelly1-xxxxxx through wifi
    3. menu button in app, add device



    Through a web browser (requires no internet for phone or device).

    1.Power up Shelly1 by connecting L and N to mains
    2.Connect to AP shelly1-xxxxxx through wifi
    3.On browser, 192.168.33.1 for Shelly web interface
