He gave a lot of young black males hope and a positive role model and showed people Hollywood and America were ready to have a black hero.

Jesus, that's sad. 43 is no age. I seem to remember the rates for that cancer are much higher among Black Americans than White or Asian and like him they get it younger.

One thing of note about the man - and the rest of Hollywood and "celeb" culture should take heed; he and his family went through this in a private and dignified way, not splashed across the tabloids. He would have had it for years and kept working and going through the purgatory of treatment at the same time and not a peep about it.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Very sad indeed for his family. Black Panther was one of the more memorable Marvel efforts of the last few years for me.

He looked like an extremely fit man, hard to believe he was taken by cancer so young. That desiese is an absolute pox on humanity. I long for the day a cure is found.

Probably the more poignant for him at the time knowing it was going to be his legacy.

Apparently diagnosed in 2016, so he went through filming of numerous intense action movies and lots of training while battling colon cancer.

An absolute beast and a good man.

"Chadwick Boseman had a mystery benefactor who helped send him to Oxford to study the theater. Years later, he discovered it was Denzel Washington. Washington produced Boseman’s final film, which will air on Netflix later this year"

    RIP.

The hysterical virtue signalling on Twitter is hilarious though.

Can we cut this crap out please? Pay your respects and leave out the rest of the nonsense for one thread maybe.

This will be the only warning in regards to this.

Absolute legend helping comfort kids with cancer while secretly going through treatment himself too. RIP

Mad to think of the grueling training regimes he would've been going through for some of those roles while simultaneously battling cancer. It's really quite unbelievable.

Poor fella, 43 is a very young age. And his family :(

He did very good work helping kids with cancer.

    RIP

First time I saw him was as Jackie Robinson in 42. Yesterday was Jackie Robinson Day across MLB too.
