Looking for help on getting a new work laptop

When my brother found out I was looking into buying a new computer for myself he asked me to look into getting him a new laptop as well. He needs a replacement for his work laptop, just in case the one he has goes kaput. What he has has at the moment is a HP laptop with the following specs.

Processor:AMD A8-4555M APU with Radeon HD graphics 1.60 GHz
    RAM: 8GB
Disk: 907 GBs (hes only used about 200gbs)

Budget: He's not worried too much about budget. I don't know what is a decent amount to spend on laptops, maybe 500-800.

Intended use: The laptop will be running two custom applications related to his work. One of them requires SQL to be installed. Don't know much more about them other than that. He'd be using spreadsheets and Word as well. Probably processing power and ram would be the important features over graphics.

Mobility: He will be bringing this laptop from location to location but I doubt he would be worried about the size. They have a load of equipment they have to carry around anyway.

    Warranty: Not majorly important.

What Operating System do you use? The old laptop is using windows 8. I'm assuming that new laptops all come with Windows 10 now. Hopefully the two applications will still run on the newer version of OS but I have a key for Windows 8, I haven't used yet, if they don't

Not sure what websites are good to start looking at and are trustworthy.

standard answer here but this this light (1.38kg) and durable metal-build laptop will do a great job.

quad-core Ryzen cpu will meet those use cases easily

it's on sale at the moment for £450 - has been up to £600 normally

use parcel motel, addresspal etc to get to Ireland.

lots have bought it there already

any review that you will find online will be complimentary

even comes with a free gift

Thanks a million Glasso. That laptop actually looks great and at a decent price, might recomnmend that to some of the rest of the family. I sent it on to my brother but he's a bit concerned with only having 256gbs of space. He does have to process lots of data for his work, it doesn't stay on the laptop permanently, just for short periods of time, so he would prefer to have a bit more wriggle room if possible. He likes the idea of an SSD drive though. Is there another option for a decent laptop that would have an SSD drive with more space. I know it will jack up the price of the laptop.

there is a 512gb version on amazon (matebook d 14. same laptop different branding)

or it would be cheaper to buy a bigger ssd yourself and put in

but even with large datasets if you use say a usb hard drive to store stuff you're not using regularly I would go that way
