Battlestar Galactica, really sold the "this has all happened before, and will happen again" theme.

Can we get spoiler cover tags for major twists and spoilers?

The Deuce for me had the best last 15 minutes of any show I've seen

Life On Mars is fantastic but I'll even say Ashes to Ashes pips it.

It should have been utterly naff given the massive twist and abstract nature but it was brilliant and really really sad given the journey we had been on with the characters.

    An amazing finale

I watched The Shield around 2011 and I wonder if it still stands up today

I remember it could be patchy at times, but overall it was well worth it

The Sopranos- remember thinking tv had cut and whenever I hear don't stop believing on the radio it takes me back to the Sopranos ending

    Very good and tough question.

I’m going to go with...... Spartacus.

The reason is that it’s not just the last episode that nails it, the build up in the last few episodes is brilliant. There is also a special end credits that just made me very emotional due to the fact they finished it with a shot of Andy Whitfield shouting “I am Spartacus”. Link below for end credits. There’s no spoilers in the credits.

For context: Andy Whitfield played Spartacus in season 1 but sadly died from non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Going to mention Justified here thought it ended very well and was a good natural conclusion.

Also thought the Shield, the deuce and breaking bad all had good endings.

Love/Hate had a very good ending.

The Leftovers had one of the best finales I've seen in ages. A strong focus on the characters and their story arcs.

Watchmen as well, in how it brought together each story in a coherent way but again, focused on the main story and the central character.

Breaking Bad has to be one of the top though. Even though Ozymandias was the better episode, the final episode was still hugely satisfying and rewarding.

Ya really didn't see that coming.

Sopranos probably the most talked about.

Re-watching it and it holds up in a big way. Can't say I agree with the patchy comment as I'd rank it as the best consistency of any of the greats imo.

The Wire. ((Always my go-to answer :D). Last series has its critics, and certainly wasn't its finest. But the 90 minute finale wrapped everything up nicely. Particularly enjoyed the circular nature of things, with new characters taking on the roles of the old, e.g Michal/Omar, Carver/Daniels. Then there was Marlo going back to the streets cos it's all he knows. Bubbles redemption, Carcetti and Rawls climbing the greasy pole. Oh, and Cheese getting his :D.

I like TV finales that are bit more relaxed where its more contemplative rather than too action based. So I would go with Six Feet Under and Northern Exposure.
