Hare to believe that there was a hosepipe ban here in Ireland not so long ago....

Rain, rain, go away, come again another day :)

Storm Ellen, then storm Francis, a brief sunny interlude and now more rain, heavy rain, so at least the reservoirs should be brimming with water!

Any thoughts in the weather where you are :)

Think it was in the mid 90s we got exactly 100 days in a row of lovely sunshine.

A mate of mine had an old van he used daily in his work. I had painted a couple of vans - basic diy jobs good enough for work vehicles but a way off professional jobs.

On the 101st day we started painting his van . late in the afternoon we were applying the 2nd coat when the thunder clouds arrived.
Next thing its hammering down like something from the bible.
Yer man landed up with the most unique finish on any hiace in the country.

About 3 years ago we had a very dry summer here in South Dublin. The grassy area out front turned brown apart from the 5 small oasis' next to an IW manhole where there was obviously leaks.

Do you remember the episode of Only Fools and Horses where they sold tap water as organic spring water? Rodney goes "They have engineers checking the estate. They think they a major underground leak"

Its a good job IW weren't running that estate, they wouldn't have noticed the leak.

Just remember this next time someone quotes that postman from Donegal Michael Gallagher as being a sage in terms of accurate weather predictions:
Speaking about the months ahead, the Donegal postman, who is well known for forecasting the weather by observing nature, said: "We will have a lovely summer.

"There will be some thunder and showers on and off, but overall it will be lovely."

After that quote I believe your entitled to your golden shower, and keep your mouth closed (thats toxic water) because that could be an endurance shower lasting up 40days and 40nights (stop salivating).
Oh I like that saying blasted with piss is not as good as a smack of a stocking full of sh¡te, but its up there.

Worst in “recent times” but, I think, it was 07 when it rained for something close to 50 days in a row.

Drinking water is different to the stuff falling from the sky, our population is growing but our water sources aren't. Not helped by people power washing the ground with treated water.

The thing about a hosepipe ban is that it only prohibits the use of water drawn through a hosepipe for watering a garden, cleaning a car/van/boat and filling pools/ponds/fountains etc.

So its ok to wash your windows with a hosepipe or to wash your car with a bucket of water filled from a tap.
