I am looking to change company over the next while...feel I have come as far as I can in my current workplace.
A friend forwarded me a job earlier....right up my street, company based in US but it’s a remote role.
Nothing in the job description mentions remote “within the US”...but I am wondering if it really is worth my while applying? Job was posted on LinkedIn.
    Anyone do this before?

    Worth getting additional info.

    1) May be tax implications that need to be considered for both you and the company as you will be based in a different country.

    2) You may also have to work US hours which may not suit you.

Looked into it OP early in lock down when my own job in IT (Sys admin) was under threat due to COVID.

My own job ended being secure (for now) so did not pursue it much after that.

I looked on LinkedIn and applied for a few that I though might be a good fit but got no replies.

I also reached out to a few employed agencies in Boston (I used to work in IT there) but again not no replies.

A friend of mine is a CTO is an company over there and when I pitched the idea to him he though it was a great idea (not that he had a job for me or anything)

But he did say that when they are hiring IT they go first to India, then Bulgaria then the US.

So in the grand the scheme of things Irish I people would fall somewhere between Bulgaria an the US when it came to the pay cost to the company.

There are no visa restrictions to working remotely for a US company, but as other has said the company would have to have some sort of registration in Ireland for taxes etc
However that may be a pretty simple thing in the grand scheme of things.

I was in the same boat some time ago, LinkedIn helped me to find job in US. As for me it's one of the best platforms for recruiting and searching job. Plus I just found info about linkedin crm tool on Dooozen that can help to connect people, send multiple messages, track sales activities in auto mode and save time. It's just perfect tool to automate work on LinkedIn, can't wait to try beta version in the near future.

I find LinkedIn in very difficult for job hunting.

I think it's the lack of a Advanced job search function.

When searching for jobs all one seems to be able to search on is "title, Skill, or company" and "City, state or zip code"

So for example if I do a search for "cloud engineer" and "remote" I get a plethora of results back.
Some may be remote only due to COVID, some may be remote but have to be based in a certain country, some might be remote a few days a week\month.

Going through all of them to identify something that fits ones criteria can be tedious and overwhelming.

Most US tech companies do not care where the individual employee is based now however they do have some countries they are not fond of. Ireland & UK are favorable due to the employment laws and ease of setting up an business entity.

The countries with workers councils or heavily unionized like France, Germany Benelux they would shy away from unless they have a sales entity or customer specific function.

Go for it OP, my last 3 roles had been originally advertised as US, German or London based roles. They ultimately want the right skilled resource and worst that can happen is no response.
