Hi, I'm going to be doing my test in an older Passat, which has an electronic handbrake. It doesn't have hill assist or anything of the like so I've gotten used to just using my clutch at bite and moving my foot off the brake to accelerator to get through hills, as to dis-engage the handbrake I have to have my foot on the brake pedal anyway.

I was just wondering if anyone had experience doing this in the test? Or if I should just use my footbrake when stopped in traffic and the like? Or should I actually engage the handbrake?

Unfortunately with my test being next week, I cannot get a pre-test with any instructor so I'm going to be going in blind.

Engage the handbrake if you're stopped in traffic

It's not practical to be engaging an electronic handbrake in traffic, as well the older passats take a couple seconds to engage and disengage
