Anxiety in new job/covid

I have huge anxiety from my new job. There's very little distancing between staff and no face masks are worn.

I might have a new job offer in a few days and I know staff are protected wearing face masks and more pay. Forget the extra pay, all I want is to be protected.

I'm not long in my current job, but how do I be civilised in leaving my new job?

Hand in your notice as per your contract?

can’t be any more civil than that?

Make sure you have a definite new job to go to first. Then all you have to do is hand in your notice and work the required time to finish.

Do I have to work my notice when it involves them training me?

If you don’t ever want a reference from them...

Its best to work your notice otherwise it looks bad moving forward in the future. You don't know you might meet those people again.

I'll give my notice and leave it up to them so. In reality, they probably won't want me back and if they can play with the health of people, I wouldn't want to go back anyways.

That's for the best. Good luck.

    Good move.

Have you mentioned to your manager/HR about the lack of face masks/government advice/risks etc??

Have mentioned my concerns and they were dismissed with excuses that they're following HSE advice which is all about distancing. We have the space to work (even though, it doesn't take into account airborne transmission) and staff ignores the distancing.

I want to be civilised but not liking how they can put our lives at risk. They don't deserve my civilised response.

Is it a requirement to wear masks in offices or is this retail? I think it's impossible to be completely socially distant in an office anyway with training etc

What sort of a business do you work in - most companies that I’m aware of are not wearing masks at work ...... as per HSE guidelines!

Ah jaysus, this is being pulled up again. My reply to a selfish poster who made themselves out to be completely selfish on a different part of boards.

Thanks for the help in the work and jobs section though.

I work in the civil service, working throughout Covid. We socially distance as much as we can, sanitize as much as we can and work in the same bubbles of people as much as possible. We don't wear masks and are not advised to wear masks at work. We strictly follow Government guidelines . I work in a team of people at I am 59. I don't feel my life is being put at risk.

Fcuk the reference, fcuk being civilised. 8 months into a pandemic and they can't look after their staff and many of them old. I hope I get offered the new job because I'll be telling them where to shove their job.

If you do end up staying in your current job is there anything stopping you wearing a medical grade mask during the day? If you start wearing it you might find others do the same. My colleague is very anxious about infection even though we social distance so I wear a mask when I’m working with him. See
