    Hi,
Is it possible to turn off WiFi on Vodafone router without physically having to turn it off?
I mean can I do it from bed or outside the house from my iPhone?

    Thanks,

    Jos

If you mean WiFi exactly , not router itself - yes, as long you are connected to your network and have logon credentials.
Go to router IP from your browser and disable it. Wired connections remain working.

    Login to router using 192.168.1.1

Then type in login details usually vodafone and vodafone, then go to wifi heading I think it is and turn it off

Not exactly a fix but I used to have a problem my router would lock up every week and would need a hard reset. What I did was put a timer plug on my router power plug that turned it off for 15 minutes each night at 4am. Never had to reboot it again as it was effectively rebooted each night. Might be of some help to you also.

I unchecked the “Enable WiFi” checkbox in the “Basic->WiFi” section.
However I get this error message.
“Parameter settings are invalid. Please try again.”

Question is why? Is it for kids?
You can block devices at certain times. Might be more useful if you are not there.

Older manual timer plug might be best option as suggested.
Smart plug even. But you would have to power it back on as it uses WiFi.

Like an eejit I connected up a smart plug to my router to reset it for when I went away. First time away I wanted to check my nest thermostat, couldnt connect so decided a network reboot would be the order of the day, so turned router off with my smart plug. :D

I sat there all smug for a minute thinking how clever I was to use a smart plug I could log into when I was away from house and reboot the router............until I had to turn the router smart plug on again:eek::o:mad:

Yes I have a kid who is very defiant and plays a lot on PlayStation online.
So I want to wean him off it and tell him Vodafone are upgrading network and so the WiFi is going on and off intermittently.

Which router? Newer Gigabox one has an app that’s probably handier than logging into web interface on a phone (and I think it has parental controls too).

Yeh there are better options. Software, parental controls or you can block devices.
If you have a look on your router. You will be able to log into it. Lets us know what you have there.

Maybe take the controller or actually say enough is enough and if it continues then remove the console...

    Your house your rules ...

Jaysus I wouldn't have gotten away with it

He will probably just use the hotspot on his phone.

Didn’t want to go into it but he has DCD which in a way is linked to his behavior.
    Working with a psychotherapist.
For the moment just want to gradually wean him off it.
