2012 Mercedes c class with 130000km on the clock with automatic transmission.

Ballpark what should I be paying to service the gearbox. No issues with it but have read its advisable with this amount of mileage now done.
    Thanks all

Just got my 2013 E class done by a Merc main dealer. Called around and it was between €375 and €400. 7G-Tronic, right?

There's a specific procedure for doing it, so I thought best to got to the dealer.

Thanks Kevin for that. I got a quote from main dealer in Meath it was somewhere around €650. I thought it was ott so thought I would ask around. Not 100% sure its 7G as when in semi automatic it shows 6 forward gears. In Cavan so only 2 options really to get it done as I wanted it done through main dealer. Either Navan or Kingscourt.

I'm not familiar with a 6-speed, I think it's technically an automated manual?

Seems very expensive especially considering the 7G tronic service is quite an involved process as far as I can read (well beyond most DIY's).

I priced both Dublin and Galway main dealers, with one being dearer for the B service, and the other dearer for the Gearbox service, but within €10 of one another overall.

A courtesy car was an extra €30 for the day (insurance charge) which made life much easier.

The transmission fluid filter may be attached to the transmission pan so the pan needs to be replaced as part of the service. Also need to ensure using good quality trans fluid.

I don't have a merc but would guess a good indy will do it for €350ish.

Try a company called 7th Gear in Ballycoolin. They seem to specialise in a lot of auto gearboxes

Thanks all, there is nothing wrong with the gear box and only servicing as a preventative measure really.
When I get it done I will update who did it and at what cost.

    €150 for the kit.
Drop the pan, drain the old fluid, fit the new filter, gasket and bolts and fill with new fluid. an hour at the most.
    So €250 all in.

To be fair to Merc on this one, the official procedure involves running the car to temperature and putting the gearbox though a specific cycle to clear out the old oil which is time consuming.

Whether it makes a difference or not, I don't know, probably marginal. I'd be well able to do it myself - if I had a garage and a ramp.

It’s a pretty low mileage machine, I wouldn’t look to save €20 here or there but make sure it’s done properly.

Hi5 thanks for the link and info.
I would love to try this but I do enough DIY at home to save money. I leave the car to a mechanic.

€620 inc. VAT for plarts and labour for auto box service and new rear brake pads in Gilmores of Kingscourt. Said it would take 2-3 hours.

Garage in Navan were quoting that just for the auto box service.

I booked it in Gilmores for next month
