    Hi All

So in Spring next Year we will looking to get a Motorised Awning installed which we hope will expand over our Patio from the back of our house.

Does anyone here have one installed and would you recommend them?

Also , What would be the ball park figure of buying one with installation?

We are a run of the mill Semi Detached house

I saw one for sale a few years ago I think it was €1200. This was a pretty fancy unit so you may be able to do better. Installation could be anything from €250 up depending on lots of factors.

One thing you need to consider is what lifespan they give you for the material against UV deterioration of the material.
I looked at thus before and my set up required scaffolding to fix the rig, scaffolding would also be required to remove the cassette to replace the material so that put a stop to that.

There was a crowd out Dún Laoghaire direction, when I asked about the UV life, said : "well you wouldn't have it open that often".
That was maybe 15 years ago so they could be gone.

I was quoted mad money, c 20,k so I made a removable ALU tubing frame, using key clamp fittings and I bought the material from Ikea, fixed sizes.
    about 2k in total

We had one in SE UK. Absolutely loved it. It was great when the sun shone and really set the garden off when we had people over.

I'd have one here (the wild west) but with these winds and rain I'd probably use it five times a year, but I love them, they're great.

    iirc cost about £1200/1300.

do you really need the cost of a motorized one?

I got one of these last year, manual unit and you have it opened and closed in 10s

really solid. easy enough to mount with 2 people

How'd you find Aosom? Never heard of them before and had been looking at awnings on Wayfair.co.uk myself earlier in the year. Will probably sort one for next year.

Neighbours have one. The part at the end tends to get destroyed as it’s left exposed the the elements when it’s put away and flaps in the wind

there is always that front piece of about 3-400mm that is left exposed after winding it up that will get faded over time from the sun
Hence the reason we went with a light cream so the difference is very negligible

Ours flaps a tiny bit but nothing that keeps me awake at night

Its right under our bedroom window and even in the high winds we've had recently its not an issue

I had one installed during the week.
I did a lot if research before pulling the trigger,a decent one will set you back a bit, this one was approximately €2400 and i had to get an electrician on top of that to connect it up.
Time will tell if it was a good buy or not.
