We have almost always used Airbnb for self-catering in recent years and have occasionally used Booking.com for Hotels.

But has anyone used both for self-catering? Is there much difference?

Have seen a house in France on both but is cheaper by €200 on Booking.com

I have used both in the past. I don't think there is much difference. Quite often the homeowner will post their property on multiple platforms eg Air BnB, VRBO etc. Funnily enough, I have seen the same property on diffferent sites with different cancellation policies! I would only book something now if it had a generous cancellation policy, so once that is the case here, I would have no issue using Booking.com

    Had another look there now.
Prices have changed again so there is €140 ish in the difference between Airbnb and Booking.com but Airbnb have 5 day Cancellation and Booking.com have 30 days.

I personally would go for the one with the more generous cancellation policy, even if it were a bit more expensive. Things change so damn quickly at the moment, you just can't guarantee anything!

Yes, that is what we will do. More peace of mind. Thanks.

I have used both numerous times. Booking.com would be my preferred choice due to their better cancellation policy's usually. And, also, in the event of the host cancelling, they help you out better.

Any thoughts on Homeaway / Vrbo ?

    Versus Airbnb and Booking.com.
