Becoming a guardian

Not sure if this is the right place to post. My dd has been in a relationship with this guy for about 2 years. She had a child for him. Basically, she is not cut out for parenthood. She has a chance to go abroad to work and basically have a fresh start. The father of the child has no or very little involvement with his son, nor does he want one. My dd has asked me to legally take guardianship of her child and raise him. I would have to give up my job to do this. My question is - can I get welfare for this just like you do if you are a foster parent, and if so - how much?
