    Hi
, i am wondering what to do in this situation ..
Recently i brought my cat to the local vet he had 200 ML of fluid build up in him and the Vets Drained it out ,did 3 xrays and told me he had a tumor and lymphoma ...only a few months left to live ....the bill was €850 and sold me some food to ease his kidney problems and 5 tablets a day and
bring him back in a few weeks ...

I went to another vets for a second opinion as he was eating and drinking grand (not symptoms of lymphoma)
and they said it was unlikely he had lymphoma and gave him a full ultrasound, cardio scan and more xrays

they diagnosed him with a treatable Feline arrhythmia .. No tumors, no Kidney damage (didnt need to be on renal food) anything like that .
but would need monitoring and 3 tablets a day for the rest of his life but prognosis was good.. bill was €520

While i understand animals cant tell you their symptoms and cats are masters at hiding their symptoms .. i did pay for their expertise and it seems like they did not give him a thorough exam ...

what to do in this situation .. should i demand a refund ?

I can understand your frustration but first off I would demand nothing

go and speak to the first vets and see what the attitude is then take it from there

either way I hope puss is getting better ad all goes well in the future for him

In this instance how do you know the second opinion is correct?

    that's a good question .. i thought that too

the second vets ( cat only vet) said that his blood test did not show any anemia,or the presence of an abnormally high number of lymphoblasts in the peripheral blood.
the ultrasound they did showed he had no tumors internally and the cardiogram showed an enlarged heart and further tests revealed an arrhythmia

Urine tests he did not reveal abnormally high levels of pigment bilirubin or proteins
he is also Negative for FelV

Hmmm. Which vet would you target for the refund?

Tough call. One is giving you the news you want to hear and the other isnt.

I'd ask the first vet to redo the same tests that the second vet did pro bono and compare
