    Hi,
Does anyone have advice on contracts? Husband was offered a job, contracts received, signed, submitted and received by the company, then lovely Covid-19 hit hard.
Company then said they have to hold on his start date as the office is closed and they cant start him. Contract start date was the 14th April and the office has re-opened in the past few weeks from what we know but no date given to him to start. HR are avoiding his calls and emails. Where does he stand?

    Where does he stand?

    On the dole line.

    He's not actually employed.

You can fire someone quite easily within the first year of employment.

Even though contracts are signed, they can just tell him goodbye on day 1. But he would be entitled to some notice (as per whatever the contract says).

My feeling is HR have no idea what to do and everyone is scrambling to save the company, so your husband is a very low priority for them right now.
