Old skinny cow

We have an old cow, lost a lot of weight due to a sickness.

Shes skin and bone and has very dry skin. You can see the dandruff, few sores and few hair loss patches.

She is much better than she was last year, I would say she is thriving eats plenty etc. himself wants to fatten and sell her on.

I'm just looking for some advice or experience on how to make life bit easier for her in regards to her skin. Is there any home remedy or cream someone can recommend to treat the dryness? She's outside all summer, which has helped her a lot but I have seen her been eaten alive by flies and can't imagine how uncomfortable she might feel on dry hot days, esp the dead weather we have been having recently.

You have to ask is it worth putting an animal through suffering just to make a few euro off her at the end of it all, sometimes the right thing is just to cut your losses and put the cow out of their misery. But to answer your question, make sure she's dosed for fluke and worms, use a pour on every few weeks to prevent the flies and maybe give her a mineral drench or injection to give her immune system a boost. Of course make sure she has adequate water, and a feed of nuts every day will bring her on alot.

    ^^^

I fully agree with u, I would rather have her put down, but I don't own her. I've tried talking to himself about it, might give it another go.

She has access to water, of course, and is given few extra nuts in comparison to the other cattle.

    What sickness did she have?
Has a vet examined her recently?

Get her a garlic block or bolus or something similar to keep the flies off.
The sores should be covered with silver spray.

Not sure about the dandruff or hair loss though.

Managed to get Stock home tar spray... Will see how that works.
