Herself wants one of those steel tech sheds put in. I must put down a base for it. I dug out the top soil but need to fill it up a few inches before the concrete base. I have 2 to 3 inch drainage stone. Would that work as a foundation and then lay the concrete in top of that? Should I put down the damp membrane before the stone or after it?

Drainage stone no good. You need 804 and it needs to be compacted. A plate wacker is the best. What damp membrane are you putting down?

If the ground is good I'd work away with that 2"-3" stone. If you'd anything to blind it off lash it in , like a bit of sand or gravel. Compact it in as best you can like the poster above said.
You won't be driving on it or anything.

Actually yes, didn't think of sand which I also have a bit of. The heaviest thing that will be in the shed is a ride on lawnmower.
