Swarm of bees in our roof,

    Hi all
We brought a bungalo house 2 year ago and it had a swarm of bees always hovering over the skylight. We never really minded them as they left us alone and we left them to do there thing.

Recently the swarm has at least tripled in size and they are now attacking our 1yo daughter as she is trying to walk and crawl, we have no piece watching her incase she gets stung again.

We had a guy out from swarms to look and he said if we take off the roof tiles he will take them away but that's easier said than done.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do ?

What you want to do is to remove the bees and all the honey comb. Following that the roof should be made unsuitable for bees, that is the roof space should not feel like a hive to a bee.

To remove bees, an access hole should be made, either from the roof side or from the inside of the house. You will probably need that access hole later anyway to fill any holes to prevent bees from returning.

Of course, you can try to poison bees. Bees are not protected animals. But the problem will remain as long as the access remains for another swarm to get into the space.

I recommend either getting a roofer to remove those tiles, or someone to cut the hole from below so that a beekeeper can remove the bees.
