Haven't been out for lunch in ages in Dublin midweek. Can someone recommend a good spot in city centre around Jervis - nothing too mad expensive but would like somewhere that serves usual soups, sandwiches for lunch. Thanks.

My default answer here is always Lotts. It's been a while since I've been so menu may have changed but they usually do a really good value lunch special. I don't think there's better food in the city for under a tenner.

I was in the Lotts on Friday and it was really good, they still have their 9 euro menu.

Blas Cafe (just around the corner from Cineworld) does the best soup and sambos in my opinion though, really good stuff.

Id say look along Capel Street as its a two minute walk from Jervis St. Along there you have Brother Hubbard which is one of the best places for lunch anywhere on the northside. If soup is what you're after then Soup Dragon on Capel near the river specialises in it. If you want something more exotic then theres a Vietnamese called Aobaba serving great food- only problem is there are very few seats inside and a group of 6 might not get to sit together. Another option might be Madina Indian on Mary Street, some people rave on about it but I dont think its all that. Its still perfectly acceptable though and they do reasonable value lunches.

Brother Hubbard would be my recommendation - it has a large space always to accommodate 6 people comfortably.

I don't think there's room for 6 to sit in Soup Dragon, it's more a grab and go type of place, great range of soups though (don't forget your free fruit!)
