Hi all. I currently have a converted attic in a 4 bed semi in Dublin 15 in a fairly normal housing estate. I would like to remodel the space so i have 2 equal sized rooms in the attic currently with 3 roof windows to the back. I understand i would need planning permission to get roof windows at the front, is there any chance that this would get the go ahead or am I wasting my time? Thank you!

Generally speaking they get granted once they are not over the top.
2 or 3 should be ok.

In my estate, permission was granted for any house that applied, including one retention.
I lodged a couple of planning apps with them included and they were all granted too.

But, theres a big disclaimer, the planner for your particular area may feel differently.
If theres valid precedent then that will aid you.

One thing though, is Fire Safety, Technical Guidance Document Part B should be looked at with regards to Attic Conversions as once you go into the 2 room layout it gets a little stricter.

    Section 1.5.7 Loft Conversions.

Looks like you may be alright as the Regs are for more than 2 habitable rooms.
