    Hi
I recently bought a car from a dealer in Ireland, he brought it in from England for me. I told him what I was looking for and he showed me one he could get and I went for it, my own car was parked up and I needed one badly for work. it was a 2015, I naively assumed when not so old it would have service history so forgot to ask. he only mentioned it had one key which I said fine, when it came and I looked in glove compartment for service history there was nothing I messaged him and he said oh it didn't come with any. anyway that was my own fault I guess as I didn't make sure. So then he was to have it on the Monday and I was going to pick it up the sat. I was hearing nothing from him so I rang and it turned out he wouldn't have it until fri. I had planned to have It sat I needed it for work I couldn't borrow any more cars from family. I picked it up on the sat and was going to drop it back the following thur for a week to let him service/vrt it. When I picked it up looked fine, drove out gate air pressure light and fuel light flashing at me. bit annoyed! anyway pumped tyre, light came on again a day or 2 later I pumped again and brought it back on the thur to let him do the few jobs (with over 150miles in tank). met him at the vrt centre where we had an app to do vrt but he had it already done the day before, drove 400 miles to get it done how this makes any sense in any1s mind is beyond me! Off he went I sat into car fuel light and tyre light flashing again!I messaged him and he was like oh I forgot to pump tyre take it to tyre place and I will pay. Took it the following day and it was a valve leaking got it repaired but they also said 3 wheels were missing nuts!car still didn't feel right and esc service light kept coming on! I messaged him again and he ignored my message I rang and he said he would ring back he didn't so I rang again then he said that's nothing important but get it aligned and I will pay. I said clutch squeaks when I press it, he said oh clutch is fine some cars just do that! Took to get aligned and balanced, 2hrs I had to wait, They said brake fluid leaking at back calliper and needed new tyre as it went out of shape from being left soft. I have asked him 3 times to send me invoice from the service he got done and I haven't received it( as I really dnt think he got it serviced). It was to come with 2 yrs nct too that is now being left up to me to book as he is just so unreliable and keeps fobbing me off! am I right to be annoyed over all this?? I feel bad everytime I ring/text as I dnt like being a nag but this is really stressing me I have paid a lot of money that I was hoping would be some what reliable!

Sounds like you bought a car blindly from a cowboy seller who probably bought it cheap from a UK auction because of the issues. I'm not sure what you can do now other than keep chasing him to fix the issues but it might come to a time where you will get tired of hounding him faster than he gets tired of ignoring or fobbing you off. I know it's too late now but you really went about buying this car the wrong way totally irrespective of how urgent you needed a car. Buying a car you didn't see, do any background checks on or have a mechanic inspect prior to handing over the money was always going to be a recipe for disaster. Hopefully you get these issues sorted quickly and can learn for the next time.

Yes I agree I have learnt a big lesson. For some Naive reason I thought by buying from a garage it would be ok. I will defo keep chasing though now!

Have you done a history check on the car?

Have you looked at the MOT history?

Anything of interest on the history check?

Bought a car you never saw and didn't inspect. Nuff said.

Did you do it..?. Put UK reg into mot UK site if it were eligible or done...

Mileage could be well off too... Why are nuts missing off wheels! I'd be getting the car checked...

I’d imagine the locking wheel nuts were removed.

MOT and History check look fine. It came with Mechanical report and all ticked fine on that. yes I did buy blindly but kind of thought the garage guy wasn't going to buy junk either as I was buying off him so would be coming back to him to sort out any issues.

I wouldn't have much faith in those MOT reports. No real thought is given to them, they are just horsed out.

    What do you mean?

    The reports or the tests?

Can you say the Make/Model of car to see if these are common problems?

If you have original MOT cert you can sent that to the NCT with the form and they will change to NCT for the remaining months. But I would let the dealer NCT the car pronto!

Did you get the VRT receipt with the invoice selling price on it? It should have the PIN/VIN on it to tax the car too.

Best off to change oil and fuel filter immediately and bring it to a mechanic you know and trust to get it checked over for piece of mind. The leaking valve and brake fluid leak can be easily fixed - fingers crossed the engine is good and clutch won't need replacing.
