Public Sector - Accumulated service

I have worked for the past 2 full years in the public sector (mix of public and civil service at CO and currently EO grade).

If I were to apply for a CO role, would I be able to start on point 3 or does the incremental credit not work that way? I have reviewed the relevant circular 21/2004 but am unsure if I could use my EO service for a CO role.

    Hi,
Pardon my stupidity here so apologies in advance. Am I not correct in saying that a clerical officer (CO) grade is below that of your current executive officer (EO) grade?

My understanding is yes, if you are 3 years in service you more at the same point, HOWEVER it does vary per department/organisation so you would need to ask the 'new' HR at job offer stage for clarification.

    Hope this is of help,

Thank you. Yes, you are correct about CO being below my current grade. I am just exploring some options.

No probs at all. In general I would say, yes you can keep the same point on scale but as already mentioned it can be different per Dept/Agency.

Best of luck with whatever you decide.

I did it when I moved to the west. Currently a Co. I started at point 1 and had to claim back my Co years. I lost the 6 months as eo but will only need to do 6 months probation if I get eo again.

There was a circular in April 2018 about it

If you start a new EO role probation will be 12 months, even if you were an established EO and moved roles on an open comp after 12month probation they have no obligation to keep you if unsuitable and back to your old dep

Regarding pay the New HR will just push you to people point if unsure

If you take a downward move, incremental credit can be applied.
