What's the noise coming from my Ford S-Max?

My 2011 Ford S-max has developed a noise in the rear which happens usually when I brake. The noise is similar to that you would get when you drive over the cats eyes on the road.
    Any ideas?
I rang the Ford dealer where I usually get it serviced and the earliest they can look at is 2 weeks away.

Might be warped brake discs. An independent garage could diagnose and if necessary fit discs and pads for you, if you didn't want to wait 2 weeks. Warped discs can degrade braking power especially at high speed.

In fairness its a 9 year old car. Don't bother with the Ford Main dealer. They'll charge you far far too much. Just bring it to a good independent mechanic. They'll sort you out.

Thanks you were dead right. I took the car to an independent garage who confirmed that the back discs needed to be replaced. Booked in for Tuesday at a cost, no doubt, considerably cheaper than the Ford dealer would charge me.

Thanks, I took your advice. Booked in for brake discs on Tuesday.
