Help applying for jobs

I need to find a new job, for many, many reasons.

I'm a long time with my current employer and I suppose I feel I'm out of the loop with applying for jobs.

I've an interview in the next couple of weeks but it's so long since I've sat an interview I don't even know how to prepare for it, besides researching the company, role etc.

Would anyone be prepared to offer some guidance with interview prep?

Also, I'm applying for other roles - competency application forms seem to be all the rage - these are new to me.
I'm struggling with the examples needed.

Again, if anyone is prepared to offer some guidance it would be very much appreciated.

    PM if possible.

    Thank you.

For competency forms and interviews look up the STAR technique - situation, task, action, result. Write out some examples of times (in your working life or voluntary roles) where you have done something that meets the job competency. For example if the competency is “innovation” your STAR could be:
Situation - my office had a process for X and it wasn’t working.
task - I decided to develop a new process.
Action - I asked 10 staff their opinions, wrote the new process, tried it for 10’days, wrote a new policy.
Result - process now takes half the time saving XX amount of money.
Make examples specific - how much money was made/ time saved etc.
For bonus marks say at the end “and this is relevant to my new role because XXX

Check YouTube and google for ideas. Good luck with the job hunt.
