Is it worth it to get a journalism/communications degree in DCU?

Will I get a job afterwards? I've heard it's competitive so could I transition to economics after I finish?

I want to work for RTE or BBC World News/CNN International in London. Can I go straight in with a B.A. in Journalism from DCU or do I need to build work experience?
