Cash discount

    Do they still exist?

How much can I expect to negotiate down a new price (if at all). Does it change by brand?

For a previously registered 201 car there would be more of a expectation to negotiate? 2k seems a very low discount on a 25k car

    Any help much appreciated

Completely depends on what type of car - is it a 201 Nissan Micra or Porsche 911?

Post a link of the car if possible

If you do not have a car as a trade in and buying from a main dealer, you should get around 2000 euro off of asking price.

I have a reliable car that would be seen as a piece of crap to most!!

Was offered 1450 as a trade in!

What exactly do you mean by cash discount OP? Are you talking about a discount for paying in cash or a discount for buying straight with no trade-in? The former makes no difference to the dealer, in fact you might do a bit better taking their finance. Pointless talking about about cash discounts if you are trading in as some of that discount gets added to your car to bump up the trade-in value.

You aren't paying cash if you are trading in a car. You can get a few grand off a new car so shop around a few brands and you could have a new car for a similar cost to change as the 201 one you are looking at.

I was buying a car in 2018 advertised for 22,000
    It was a 2014 A6.
I had a 2006 BMW 523i and was offered 2000 for it as a trade in against the Audi.
I didn't go for it and instead returned to the dealer as a straight sale buyer a few weeks later and negotiated 2000 off the Audi so bought it for 20000.
Sold the 523i for 1600 the next week.
In effect, they had offered me zero for my own car.

Moral is... Sell your 1450 car yourself, someone will buy it and go in for a straight sale on the skoda and see what you can get off

Probably get more discount on the Micra.

Yes I am essentially asking what wiggle room do I have to negotiate down

I would never be better off by taking credit as they would never give a bigger discount than the interest they would charge

You won't buy any cheaper, obviously it costs you a bit more in total over the period you repay finance as opposed to buying outright up front but that's different
