Has anyone experienced problems withdrawing money from a GoFundMe (GFM) account?

Story is, i did an online quiz as a fundraising event for a local cause and set up a gofundme page to raise money, we raised over €1,500. Afterwards as i didnt want the hassle etc of sorting the money as id heard its quite a complicated process, i named a ‘beneficiary’ as was suggested by the terms on GFM.

However he is having big problems withdrawing the money is bogged down with getting his ID verified. There is no direct contact details for GFM so its not possible to actually talk directly to a live person to sort it out so its endless emails back and forth.

Has anyone any advice or could direct us to a help forum etc? Thanks

Sorry, meant to post this in After Hours

Eh I can give a quick answer, but you'll need to contact GoFund Me who don't appear to have a contact phone number for Ireland.

Typically though, large funds can't be released to people until a KYC (Know Your Customer) has been completed, it's to crack down on things like money laundering and fraud. Whoever is doing the withdrawal will need to complete the ID verification in like 90 days (depending on the business) and then the funds can be processed.

It's a legal requirement and there's no way around it.

But this is the issue, he's done everything he was asked but still they keep telling him he hasnt complied with their terms but wont tell him exactly what he is neglecting to send them, ie he has sent them copies of bank statements, id etc etc

Money couldnt be withdrawn, every donor refunded, frustrating as hell. Think twice about who you use for any future online fundraisers

So the money was just resting in their account?
